We close the regions that require age checks.
A growing number of jurisdictions now require verified age checks before anyone can access adult content. We do not offer age verification yet, so instead of running a token check we simply do not serve those regions. Nothing of yours is distributed where distributing it would breach that requirement.
Enforced on the server
The block sits in the API and in the database rules, not in a script the browser could skip. A visitor in a closed region cannot reach content by clicking past a warning or editing the page.
Down to the US state
In the US the duty is set state by state, so a country-level block would be wrong in both directions. We resolve the state and act on that, which keeps the open states open.
Written down and reviewed
Every closed region is one line in a config file with the statute recorded next to it, checked on a fixed schedule. It is auditable rather than folklore, and we can show you the list.
Registration is closed in those regions too. Someone who cannot use the platform should not be able to open an account first and find out afterwards, so they are offered our notification list instead.
When we do add age verification, these regions reopen with verification in front of them rather than staying shut.
